Houston police are investigating the fatal crash at 7200 Hillcroft Avenue that occurred about 1:25 p.m. today (August 31).
The identity of the male victim, 51, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer D. Ortega reported:
HPD officers responded to a report of a male assaulting his wife at 7100 Hillcroft Avenue and, upon arrival, found the male (suspect) had fled in a gray Honda Accord. The suspect fled northbound on Hillcroft when he failed to control his speed and struck the rear of a black Ford F450 tow truck in the 7200 block of Hillcroft.
The suspect was transported to Memorial Hermann – Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Ford was not injured. The suspect’s wife was transported to an area hospital for injuries she sustained during the assault.
The investigation is continuing.
