Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7000 West Gulf Bank Road

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 7000 West Gulf Bank Road about 7:20 p.m. on February 24.  

The identity of the male victim, 26, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and North Patrol Division Officer C. Rivera reported:

A delivery van was driving westbound near the above address and turned south onto North Houston-Rosslyn Road.  The victim was on a bicycle traveling eastbound on West Gulf Bank and, as he entered the intersection, was struck by the delivery van.  The driver of the van remained at the scene and was questioned and released, pending further investigation.

Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the victim to HCA Houston Healthcare Northwest, initially in stable condition. However, his condition worsened and, on Tuesday (February 28), doctors pronounced him deceased.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
