Investigation into Fatal Crash at 7000 Gulf Freeway

Houston police have learned a man critically injured in a hit-and-run crash at 7000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 11:25 p.m. on May 25 has died.

The identity of the deceased male, 48, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. James and Eastside Patrol Division Officer L. Hernandez-Guzman reported:

According to witnesses, a white or silver sedan of unknown make and model was seen traveling at a high rate of speed and a loud crash was heard.  Witnesses then saw the male on the ground.  The vehicle did not stop to provide assistance and fled the scene.in an unknown direction.

Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the male to Ben Taub General Hospital in critical condition.  Doctors pronounced the male deceased on Monday (June 3).

At this time, there is no known vehicle or suspect description.
