| Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 700 Pease Street about 12:25 a.m. on Sunday (January 29).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer D. Thompson reported:
A male was operating a rented stand-up scooter on the sidewalk at Louisiana Street and headed toward the crosswalk at Pease Street. A pickup truck of unknown color, make or model was traveling northwest on Pease toward the intersection of Louisiana.
As the male on the scooter entered the crosswalk, he was struck by the pickup truck and knocked into the intersection. The driver of the pickup truck did not stop to render aid and fled the scene.
The male was transported to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
The investigation is ongoing.
