Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6900 Bellfort Avenue about 8:35 p.m. on Saturday (Oct. 16).
The identity of the male victim, 20, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The victim, a pedestrian, was crossing the street at the above address, not at a crosswalk, when he was struck by a blue Nissan Sentra traveling eastbound on Bellfort Avenue. The vehicle drove into the parking lot of a nearby business and the male driver got out and fled on foot. A female passenger got into the driver’s seat and drove the vehicle away.
Paramedics pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
The Nissan was found abandoned in the 5900 block of Honeysuckle Drive about one hour later.
