Charges have been filed against a suspect for his role in a fatal crash at 6800 Homestead Road that occurred about 11:25 a.m. on Sunday (September 26).
The suspect, Leonardo Ibarra-Gonzalez (H/m, 28), is charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #2. A booking photo of Ibarra-Gonzalez is attached to this news release.
The identity of the female victim, 42, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer S. Bouarar reported:
The victim got into an argument with her boyfriend while they were driving home. She exited the vehicle and began walking away. She was then seen deliberately lying down in the main lanes of Homestead Road at the above address when a blue Toyota Tundra struck her. Paramedics were called and pronounced the woman deceased.
The driver, Ibarra-Gonzalez, was determined to be intoxicated and he was subsequently arrested and charged.
