| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 6700 Long Drive about 3:55 p.m. on Thursday (Sept. 2).
The identity of the male victim, 76, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer S. Le reported:
The victim was driving a green GMC Envoy the wrong way (westbound in the eastbound lanes) at the above address when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a light pole. The vehicle then backed up, drove forward, struck the pole again, continued around the pole and came to a stop in the median. Paramedics transported the driver to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
No other persons were involved in the crash. The investigation is continuing.
