Houston police are investigating a fatal auto-pedestrian crash at 6700 Hillcroft Avenue about 12:15 a.m. today (May 9).
The identity of the deceased male pedestrian is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The driver of a white SUV was traveling southbound at the above address when the vehicle struck the pedestrian who was crossing the street, not in a crosswalk. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the pedestrian deceased.
Officers learned the driver of the vehicle initially stopped, then left the scene prior to police arrival.
The investigation is ongoing.
