Houston police are investigating a fatal crash in the 6500 block of South Dairy Ashford Road about 7 a.m. today (March 20).
The identity of the deceased female, 70, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer J. Leon reported:
A gray Dodge Ram pickup truck was traveling northbound at the above address when the vehicle struck the female, a pedestrian, in the roadway. According to witnesses, the female ran across the moving lanes of traffic at the time of the crash. Paramedics pronounced her deceased at the scene.
The male driver, 49, remained at the scene and called 911. He showed no signs of impairment, was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
