Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 6400 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45 East) service road about 9:35 a.m. today (September 2).
The identity of the male victim, 62, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer L. Ho reported:
The driver of a black Jeep Wrangler was traveling northbound on the North Freeway service road at the intersection of Parker Road when it struck a red Ford Fusion traveling eastbound on Parker. After the impact, the Fusion traveled northeast through the intersection and struck a pedestrian (victim) who was standing in the grassy center median. The victim was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
Both drivers, who remained at the scene, were found not to be intoxicated and were questioned and released.
At this time, it has not been determined who was at-fault in the crash as both drivers claim to have had the green light. .
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
