The fatal crash at 6400 Hillcroft Street about 5:35 p.m. on Sunday (March 13) will be referred to a Harris County grand jury.
The identity of the female victim, 48, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer C. Song reported:
The victim was the passenger in a black Toyota Camry traveling southbound at the above address when the driver of the Camry attempted a left turn when it was struck by a black Ford Explorer traveling northbound. The collision pushed the Camry over the sidewalk and onto a grass median. The Ford Explorer then struck a parked white Toyota Corolla before veering west and striking a tree in a median.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the victim dead at the scene. Paramedics transported the drivers of the Camry and Ford Explorer to an area hospital. Neither showed signs of intoxication. The parked Corolla was occupied but no persons inside were injured.
It is believed the driver of the Explorer was traveling at a high rate of speed which may have contributed to the crash. The investigation will be referred to the Harris County grand jury.
