Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 6352 Windswept Lane that occurred about 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday (August 25).
The identity of the male victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Johnson reported:
The driver of a silver Toyota Tundra pickup truck struck the victim’s vehicle at Windswept and Unity Drive. According to witnesses, the victim got out of his vehicle and approached the suspect, who was sitting in the Toyota. The two men began arguing and the suspect began to drive. It is unclear if the suspect was holding the victim or if the victim was willingly holding onto the Toyota. As the suspect drove eastbound on Windswept, he lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a pole. The Toyota landed on its side with the victim beneath the truck. The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The suspect, described only as a Hispanic male, fled the scene on foot eastbound on Windswept.
Anyone with information on the identity or whereabouts of the suspect is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
