Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 6300 McHard Road about 8:30 p.m. on Monday (July 22).
The female, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene. Her identity is pending verification by the Galveston County Medical Examiner’s Office.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer R. Romo reported:
HPD patrol officers were investigating a minor crash near South Post Oak and McHard Road when the woman, driving a silver Infiniti QX70 SUV, almost struck them while passing at a high rate of speed.
The woman turned westbound on McHard Road and officers, using lights and sirens, attempted to catch up to her. However, within less than a minute, the SUV left the roadway and struck a utility pole. The officers’ patrol vehicle never made contact with the SUV.
As is customary in fatal crashes that take place in the presence of HPD officers, this case is being investigated by the HPD Vehicular Crimes and Internal Affairs Divisions.
