The identity of the deceased female, 49, is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rodriguez and Officer C. Sartor reported:
Officers responded to a report of a female pedestrian struck by a vehicle on the freeway at the above address as she attempted to cross the northbound lanes. The male driver, 20, of a gray Chevrolet Malibu stopped and called 911. Paramedics pronounced the female deceased at the scene. The driver did not show signs of intoxication. He was questioned and released.
Further investigation revealed the female was harassing persons at a nearby restaurant. When a Harris County Precinct 6 Deputy Constable confronted the female, she fled on foot. The deputy constable got into his vehicle in an attempt to locate and speak with her, but was unable to find the female. The deputy constable was alerted to the crash a short time later.
