Investigation into Fatal Crash at 5800 North Freeway

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 5800 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 2:25 a.m. on Saturday (April 22).

The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer K. Stanley reported:

The driver of a red Ford C-Max was traveling southbound on the North Freeway when he struck the male, a pedestrian who was attempting to cross the freeway.  The male was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The male driver of the Ford remained at the scene, was questioned, did not show any signs of intoxication and was released.

The investigation is continuing,
