Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5800 Mesa Drive about 11:25 p.m. on Thursday (August 1).
The identity of the deceased male, 40 is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant J. Richards and Officer R. Guzman reported:
The male was operating a black Honda XL1 motorcycle northbound near the above address and waiting at a red light. According to a witness, a gray Kia Forte, also traveling northbound, failed to control speed and struck the rear of the motorcycle. The operator (victim) was ejected. The Kia’s male driver, 27, exited his vehicle and fled on foot.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the motorcyclist deceased.
The driver of the Kia was located hours later and transported to an area hospital to be treated for minor injuries.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
