Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5400 Westheimer Road about 11:45 p.m. on Monday (Nov. 1).
The identity of the male victim, 69, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer K. Hines reported: Witnesses stated the victim, a pedestrian, was walking in the main lanes of the roadway at the above address as vehicles traveling westbound had a green light. As the pedestrian continued to cross into the lanes, a black Cadillac Escalade traveling westbound swerved to avoid him, but struck the man in the roadway. The vehicle continued to swerve and went up onto a nearby sidewalk, scraping the passenger side on a light pole. Paramedics transported the pedestrian to Memorial Herman – Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The male driver, 32, did not show signs of intoxication.
