| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5400 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 4:50 a.m. today (February 20).
The identity of the female victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Hall and Senior Police Officer R. Saenz reported:
The driver of a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was changing lanes and preparing to exit the Gulf Freeway at Wayside when the truck struck a female pedestrian in the roadway. The victim died at the scene. Witnesses reported seeing a female running on the Gulf Freeway main lanes prior to the crash. The driver of the pickup truck remained at the scene and was questioned and released.
