Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 5300 West 34th Street about 3:55 p.m. on Saturday (July 30).
The deceased male is identified as Jose Sanchez, 61.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer K. Stout reported:
Mr. Sanchez was driving a green Ford Ranger pickup truck westbound at the above address when the vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. HPD officers responded and performed CPR on Sanchez until paramedics arrived. Paramedics transported Sanchez to Memorial Hermann Greater Heights Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
A male passenger in the vehicle was not injured. He advised officers that Sanchez slumped over and fell unconscious before crashing, indicating a medical episode led up to the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
