Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 4900 Laura Koppe Road about 10:55 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 12).
The identity of the female victim is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer R. Singleton reported:
A Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy was driving a marked patrol vehicle with lights and sirens in the pursuit of a robbery suspect traveling eastbound near the above address when he entered the intersection at Lockwood. The deputy’s vehicle collided with a black Kia Borrego, traveling northbound on Lockwood. The resulting impact caused the deputy to crash into a nearby parking lot and strike several vehicles in the lot. The Kia rolled over and struck a white Acura TLX and a white Mitsubishi sedan.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The driver of the Kia was pronounced dead at the scene. Two juvenile passengers in the Kia, a male and female, were both transported to an area hospital where the boy remains in critical condition and the girl is in stable condition. Additional occupants of the other vehicles that were struck were also transported to area hospitals in stable conditions.
The investigation is continuing.
