Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 4900 Crane Street about 4:10 p.m. on Wednesday (July 17).
The identities of the deceased males, both 44 years old, are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer N. Luu reported:
The driver of a silver Ford Crown Victoria was traveling eastbound on Crane Street at the above address when he lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway and struck a parked black Dodge Challenger. Both the driver and passenger were pronounced dead at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.
According to witnesses, the driver was traveling at a high rate of speed on the wet road and may have swerved to avoid an unknown pickup truck traveling westbound on Crane Street. The Dodge Challenger was unoccupied and was pushed into a metal fence and then a light pole. A falling gate then struck a white Dodge Ram pickup truck, also unoccupied.
No other persons were involved in this crash. The investigation is continuing.
