Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4800 Westheimer Road that occurred about 11:50 p.m. on Tuesday (September 1).
The identity of the male victim, 41, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer G. Anderson reported:
The driver (victim) of a a blue Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound near the above address when a black Mercedes Benz GLK exited a gas station in the 2600 block of the West Loop South (West Interstate Highway 610 South). The driver of the Mercedes then made an unsafe lane change and was struck by the victim. The impact caused the victim to be ejected from the motorcycle. Paramedics pronounced him deceased.
The driver of the Mercedes, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
