| Houston police are investigating a fatal hit-and-run crash at 4700 Westheimer Road about 1 p.m. on Thursday (December 17).
The identity of the female victim, 53, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer M. Mathews reported:
A Harris County Precinct 1 deputy constable working a nearby extra job saw the victim lying unresponsive in the roadway just east of the 610 West Loop (West Interstate Highway 610) service road. The deputy called Houston Fire Department paramedics and responding HPD patrol officers followed the ambulance to an area hospital where the victim was pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victim had been struck by a vehicle of unknown make or model. The deputy stated when he found the victim there were no vehicles on the scene or witnesses to a crash.
