Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4600 Bellfort Avenue about 8:35 p.m. last Friday (September 23).
The identity of the deceased male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute Of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The driver of a black Honda CRV was traveling eastbound near the above address when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the roadway. The driver then pulled into a nearby parking lot. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the victim to Ben Taub General Hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.
A preliminary investigation indicated the victim may have been struck by an unknown vehicle prior to being struck by the Honda. The driver of the Honda, who remained at the scene, was determined not to be impaired, but was arrested for unrelated outstanding warrants.
The investigation is continuing.
