Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 4300 West Sam Houston Parkway North service road about 4:20 a.m. today (April 2).
The identities of the deceased males are pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeants L. Ross and D. Hall reported:
A Harris County Precinct 5 deputy constable observed the driver of a burgundy-colored Chevrolet Camaro driving at a high rate of speed without headlights on in the 2700 block of the West Sam Houston Parkway North and attempted to initiate a traffic stop. The suspect fled at a high rate of speed and exited at Clay Road where he ran a red light and struck a burgundy-colored Ford Ranger pickup truck traveling westbound on Clay Road. The Ranger then caught on fire.
The drivers of both vehicles died at the scene. The Harris County Precinct 5 deputy was not injured in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
