A man critically injured in a crash at 4300 North Eldridge Parkway about 10:05 p.m. on August 7 has died.
The victim, 32, was pronounced deceased on Saturday (Aug. 15).
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Pham and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The victim was a passenger in a maroon Kia Sorento when he had a possible pyschiatric or narcotics episode and jumped out of the moving vehicle. He landed in a dark area of the roadway at the above address. At some point, a female driver, 74, of a gray Mercedes E430 struck the victim and continued driving. Paramedics transported the victim to an area hospital with serious injuries, including a broken pelvis.
Officers located the Mercedes and questioned the driver. She was determined to not be intoxicated and stated she did not realize she had hit a man in the dark area of the street. The woman was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
