Houston police are investigating the fatal crash at 23200 Highway 59 (North U. S. Highway 59) that occurred about 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday (November 10).
The identity of the male victim, 16, is pending verification by the Montgomery County Forensic Services Office.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant P. Lee and Officer J. Campbell reported:
The driver of a black Mercedes E320 had pulled his disabled vehicle to the farthest moving lane of traffic, exited his vehicle and was standing on the right shoulder. A gray Dodge Ram 1500 approached from behind but was able to stop behind the Mercedes. However, the driver of a gray Chevrolet pickup truck was unable to stop and struck the Dodge and kept going, but then pulled over onto the right shoulder. The driver of a a silver Nissan pickup truck then struck the Dodge and Mercedes, causing the Mercedes to be pushed off the freeway main lanes.
The passenger in the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene. The drivers of the Nissan and the Dodge were both transported to HCA Houston Healthcare Kingwood Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Mercedes and the Chevrolet were not injured
No charges have ben filed a this time, as the investigation is continuing.
