Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2200 State Highway 6 South about 8 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 15).
The identity of the deceased female, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer J. Crisler reported: The female, a pedestrian, was crossing the southbound lanes of the above address – not in a crosswalk – when she was struck by a silver Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck. The driver failed to stop and render aid and continued to travel southbound on State Highway 6. A witness followed the Chevrolet and provided officers with its license plate, and a general police radio broadcast was issued to officers on the wanted vehicle. About 90 minutes later, the Chevrolet returned and drove by the scene. A patrol officer initiated a traffic stop and detained the driver (suspect). The male, 32, did not show signs of intoxication and consented to a blood draw. At this time, no charges have been filed in the incident. Investigators will consult with members of the Harris County District Attorney’s Office. JFC/JKS 2-16-22 Inc #020779222-W
