Investigation into Fatal Crash at 2200 South State Highway 6

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 2200 South State Highway 6 about 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday (February 9).  

The identity of the male victim, 60, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer J. Best reported:

A maroon Harley-Davidson motorcycle was traveling northbound near the above address.  A black Hyundai Elantra exited a parking lot and was waiting on the shoulder of South State Highway 6, yielding to traffic.  As the Hyundai pulled into the roadway, it was struck by the motorcycle.  Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and transported the motorcyclist to Memorial Hermann Katy Hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The driver of the Hyundai, who remained at the scene, consented to a blood draw and was questioned and released.

No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
