| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 200 McCarty Street about 6:35 a.m. today (December 5).
The identity of the deceased male, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant A. Patterson and Officer J. Campbell reported:
A white tractor-trailer truck traveling southbound at the above address was stopped with its left turn signal on to turn left onto Portwall Street when a blue Ford F-150 struck the rear of the trailer. The Ford then caught fire, which was extinguished by a passerby.
Paramedics arrived and transported the driver of the Ford to Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased. The male driver, 29, of the 18-wheeler was not injured. He was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
