Houston police have learned a woman critically injured in a crash at 19000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 12:15 a.m. on August 27 has died.
The identity of the victim, believed to be in her 40s, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Clear Lake Patrol Division officers reported: The victim was a passenger in a silver GMC Yukon XL pickup truck as it traveled northbound on the freeway at the above address. The vehicle left the roadway and struck a guard rail. Another driver stopped and observed the victim slumped over in the front passenger seat. Paramedics transported the woman to HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake where doctors later pronounced her deceased on Sunday (Sept. 4). The unknown driver of the Yukon fled the scene before officers arrived.
