Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 19000 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) about 7:40 p.m. on Tuesday (March 1).
The identity of the female victim, 29, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer A. Mares reported: The victim was driving a black Ford F-150 pickup truck northbound on the freeway at the above address when the vehicle’s right front tire came off, disabling the truck between the far right lane and the shoulder. The driver exited the vehicle and called her friends while she stood in the shoulder area next to her vehicle. A white Toyota Tacoma pickup truck was traveling northbound in the far right lane. When the driver realized the Ford was disabled, he swerved to the right and struck the Ford and then the female outside the vehicle. Paramedics pronounced the female deceased. The male driver, 20, of the Toyota did not show signs of intoxication, was questioned and released. The investigation is continuing. JFC/VHS 3-2-22 Inc #027471822-Y
