Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 1900 South State Highway 6 that occurred about 2:50 a.m. today (September 8).
The male victim, 21, was pronounced dead at the scene. His identity is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer V. Garcia reported:
The victim was attempting to cross South State Highway 6 at the above address in an area with poor lighting. Two vehicles had just turned on to the highway and, according to witnesses, may have been attempting to race northbound. Both vehicles, a Toyota Highlander and an unknown sedan, struck the victim. Both drivers then fled the scene without stopping.
