Houston police are investigating the fatal crash in the 14200 block of Katy Freeway (West Interstate Highway 10) about 5 a.m. today (July 1).
The identities of the deceased male and female are pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer J. Leon reported:
An 18-wheeler was traveling eastbound on the freeway when it struck a silver Mitsubishi Galant. The 18-wheeler collided with the barrier on the right side of the highway. The Mitsubishi rolled onto the driver’s side and slid a ways down the freeway.
Houston Fire Department paramedics pronounced the drivers of both vehicles deceased at the scene.
The investigation is ongoing.
