Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13900 Gulf Freeway about 2:35 a.m. on Sunday (December 18).
The identity of the male victim, 27, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer J. Trevino reported:
A tan Chevrolet Suburban, a black Chevrolet Equinox and a white Ford F-150 pickup truck were traveling southbound near the above address when the male driver, 44, of the Suburban made an unsafe lane change to the right and sideswiped the Equinox. The victim was driving the Equinox and lost control of the vehicle, veered to the right and struck the metal guardrail. The driver of the Suburban lost control of the vehicle, struck the pickup truck, veered to the right and also struck the guardrail.
The driver of the Equinox was pronounced deceased by paramedics. The passengers of the Suburban and Equinox were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The drivers of the Equinox and the pickup truck were detained for questioning at the scene.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
