| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13800 North Freeway (North Interstate Highway 45) about 2 a.m. on Saturday (April 13).
The identity of the deceased male, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant M. Sudduth and Officer R. Guzman reported:
A Houston Fire Department ambulance, with its emergency lights activated, was stopped in a southbound lane of the freeway at the above address to check on the well-being of persons involved in an unrelated crash. A silver Toyota Rav4, traveling at a high rate of speed, struck the rear of the ambulance and then a concrete barrier.
The driver of the Toyota was pronounced deceased. None of the ambulance personnel was injured in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
