| Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 1313 South Loop West (Interstate Highway 610 South) around 6 a.m. today (November 5).
The identity of the male victim, 34, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Maness and Officer H. Nguyen reported:
The drivers of a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck and a gold Jeep Wrangler were traveling eastbound on the South Loop in the same lane, with the Chevrolet traveling behind the Jeep. The driver of the Jeep stated the driver of the Chevrolet (victim) switched lanes to the left of the Jeep and attempted to get in front of the Jeep. When the victim attempted to get in front of the Jeep, he changed lanes in an unsafe manner and struck the front of the Jeep. The victim. lost control of his vehicle and drove through the guardrail, causing the vehicle to roll over. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
