| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 13000 Westheimer Road about 5:45 p.m. on Thursday (July 29).
The identity of the female victim, 67, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant F. Briones and Officer O. Sulaiman reported:
The victim was driving a blue Toyota Camry westbound near the above address behind a black Mazda 5. As the victim entered the left turn lane, the Mazda made an unsafe lane change in front of her. The Camry struck the rear of the Mazda, veered to the left, crossed a concrete median into oncoming traffic and struck a white Acura TLX head-on.
The victim was pronounced deceased at the scene. The female driver, 66, of the Acura was transported to an area hospital in critical condition. The male driver, 22, of the Mazda was not injured. He was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
