HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant G. Clark and Officer J. Leon reported:
According to witnesses, a white Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling northbound on the Gulf Freeway at a high rate of speed and weaving in and out of lanes. The driver appeared to miss the Fuqua exit and then left the roadway, drove through the grassy median and entered the service road. While leaving the roadway and driving across the median, the truck struck multiple road signs.
As the truck entered the service road, still traveling at a high rate of speed, it also struck the left side of a white Chevrolet Equinox and finally the concrete base of a freeway light post. The impact caused the truck to roll over and the driver (victim) was ejected. Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the victim deceased. A male passenger, 24, in the pickup truck was transported to an area hospital in stable condition with lacerations to his head. The female driver of the Equinox suffered minor injuries and was not transported. .
The investigation is continuing.
