Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12400 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 3:15 p.m. on Monday (July 24).
The identity of the deceased female, 45, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer F. Serna reported:
The female, a pedestrian, was standing in the median between the east and westbound lanes of East Orem Street. A red Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck was traveling eastbound on East Orem and a black Honda Accord was travelling northbound on Martin Luther King Boulevard. The drivers of both vehicles stated they had the green light and, as the vehicles entered the intersection, the Honda struck the Chevrolet. The Chevrolet then struck the pedestrian in the median.
The Chevrolet rolled over and came to a stop on the grass median east of the intersection. The Honda spun and struck a silver Mercury Grand Marquis waiting to turn left from East Orem onto Martin Luther King Boulevard. The impact caused the Mercury to strike a gray Nissan Versa.
The pedestrian was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male driver, 38, and female passenger, 17, of the Chevrolet and the male driver, 24, of the Honda were transported to an area hospital in stable conditions. The drivers of the Nissan and the Mercury were not injured.
No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
