Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 12100 Gulf Freeway (South Interstate Highway 45) service road about 4:15 a.m. on Saturday (October 3).
The victim, Johnathan Arteaga, 33, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer D. Hoang reported:
The victim was operating a black Harley-Davidson motorcycle northbound at the above address when he attempted to enter the freeway entrance ramp. He failed to maintain a single lane and struck a signpost on the concrete median between the service road and the entrance ramp, ejecting him from the motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and died at the scene.
Further investigation determined he had been drinking at a nearby bar prior to the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
