| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 11800 East Freeway (East Interstate Highway 10) about 9:05 p.m. on Thursday (August 3).
The identity of the deceased male is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer F. Flynn reported:
The male, a pedestrian, was crossing the westbound main lanes of the East Freeway near the above address when he was struck by a tractor-trailer truck traveling westbound on the freeway. Due to heavy traffic, the 18-wheeler stopped on the right shoulder near the McCarty Street exit and called 9-1-1.
Houston Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced the male deceased.
The driver of the 18-wheeler was determined not to be impaired and was questioned and released.
The investigation is continuing.
