Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10900 South Sam Houston Parkway West service road about 9:25 a.m. today (May 31).
The identity of the deceased female is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant E. Alejandro and Officer A. Hart reported:
A silver Hyundai Accent and a silver Honda Accord were traveling westbound in the 9100 block of West Airport Boulevard and had the red light at the intersection of the South Sam Houston Parkway West. The female driver of the Hyundai failed to control her speed and struck the rear of the Honda. The impact caused the Honda to cross the intersection and it struck a green Toyota Camry travelling eastbound on West Airport and making a left turn onto the service road. The Camry then struck a white Mack van, also traveling eastbound and making a left turn.
The driver of the Hyundai was pronounced deceased at the scene by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. The male driver of the Accord and three passengers – one female and two juveniles- were transported to an area hospital in stable conditions. The male driver of the Camry was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. The male driver of the van was not injured and remained at the scene.
The investigation is continuing.
