Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10600 Martin Luther King Boulevard about 2 a.m. on Thursday (November 23).
The identity of the deceased female, 42, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Griffiths and Officer F. Flynn reported:
According to witnesses, the woman was driving a black Volvo S80 southbound near the above address and ran the red light at the intersection of Airport Boulevard. A preliminary investigation indicated the Volvo struck a curb and veered to the left. The Volvo then entered a grassy median and struck a tree.
The woman was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics. Two other passengers in the Volvo were transported to an area hospital, one in critical condition.
The investigation is continuing.
