Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10500 West Montgomery Road about 12:45 a.m. today (Aug. 16).
The identity of the deceased male, 43, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer J. Baker reported: Patrol officers initiated a traffic stop on a red Nissan Altima and activated their emergency equipment with lights and sirens. The driver evaded officers and fled at a high rate of speed northbound on West Montgomery Road. The vehicle struck a curb on the east side of the roadway at the above address, crossed over the median, and struck a pole on the westbound side of the road. The suspect driver was pronounced deceased at the scene. No other vehicles were involved in the crash. As is customary when an individual dies in the presence of an officer, the incident is being investigated by the HPD Internal Affairs Division and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
