Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10500 South Main Street (U.S. Highway 90) that occurred about 12:10 a.m. last Friday (April 17).
The identity of the deceased male victim, 18, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences. A second victim, a female, 21, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer C. Brothers reported:
The female victim (above) was driving a white, 2020 Chevrolet Impala northbound at the above address when her vehicle collided with a silver, 2012 Chevrolet Impala. Both vehicles left the roadway. The silver Impala went over a curb and became disabled on the frontage road about 200 yards away. The white Impala went over a sidewalk and struck a signal light and power pole, cutting the vehicle in half. Paramedics transported the female driver and male passenger in the white Impala to area hospitals. The male was pronounced deceased a short time later.
The driver and passenger in the silver Impala fled the scene on foot before officers arrived. They were later located and questioned. No charges have been filed at this time, pending further investigation.
