Houston police are investigating the fatal crash that occurred at 10500 Richmond Avenue about 1:45 p.m. on Thursday (June 1).
The identity of the deceased female is pending notification to family members by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crime Division Sergeant S. Jewell and Officer D. Jones reported:
According to witnesses, the female was standing on the corner of Richmond Avenue at Rogerdale Road and was leaning forward into traffic, looking into vehicles traveling eastbound. The driver of a red Toyota Tundra was traveling eastbound on Richmond Avenue and, as he approached the intersection, the female stepped into the roadway. The female, who failed to yield the right of way, was struck by the Toyota. Paramedics transported her to Ben Taub General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene and did not show signs of intoxication. He was questioned and released with no charges filed at this time.
The investigation is continuing.
