Houston police have learned a woman critically injured in a hit-and-run crash at 10000 West Sam Houston Parkway South service road about 12:25 a.m. on March 22 has died.
The identity of the victim, 33, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant D. Rose and Officer D. Nguyen reported:
According to witnesses, the victim was crossing the service road at the above address – not in a crosswalk – and running toward a group of people in a restaurant parking lot at 10400 Bissonnet when she was struck by a dark-colored Chevrolet SUV. The driver of the SUV, possibly a PT Cruiser or HHR, did not stop to provide assistance to the victim and fled the scene.
Houston Fire Department paramedics transported the woman to Ben Tub General Hospital in critical condition where, on Friday (March 26), she was pronounced deceased.
Anyone with information on the wanted driver is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
