| Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 10000 La Porte Freeway (State Highway 225) about 3 a.m. on Saturday (October 19).
The identity of the deceased male, 30, is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant Y. Ramirez and Officer T. Smith reported:
A black Jeep Cherokee was traveling eastbound and stopped with its lights on in a moving lane of traffic near the above address The Jeep was struck in the rear by a white Honda Accord, also traveling eastbound on the freeway. The impact pushed the Jeep into a concrete barrier.
The driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased by responding Houston Fire Department paramedics.
The Jeep’s driver, Angel Eduardo Villanueva, 23, was transported to an area hospital in stable condition. Villanueva was determined to be impaired and was subsequently charged with driving while intoxicated in Harris County Criminal Court #10.
The investigation is continuing.
