Investigation into Crash at 7800 Gulf Freeway

Houston police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect and vehicle wanted in a hit-and-run crash at 7800 Gulf Freeway (Interstate 45 South) service road about 11:40 p.m. on April 2.The victim, Julio Torres, Jr., 30, was transported to a hospital where he remains in critical condition.  A photo of Mr. Torres is attached to this news release.HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Le and Officer A. Gomez reported:Officers responded to a person down call in the northbound lanes of the service road at the above address and located a male (Torres) lying in the middle of the roadway.  He was a pedestrian who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle where a crosswalk is not provided.  Paramedics transported Torres to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene without stopping to render aid.  There is no suspect description at this time.  It is believed the wanted vehicle is an SUV or truck, unknown make or model.Anyone with information in this case is urged to contact the HPD Hit and Run Unit at 713-247-4072 or speak anonymously with Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
